“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” -Margaret Wolfe Hungerford ( 1878)

Oh hi! – Guess who’s back 🙂

Been finding myself thinking quite a lot lately about this phrase – “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” – so I thought to share my thoughts and feelings about what I think BEAUTY is really about.
If I were to analyse it, it is quite troublesome and not completely true. Why? Because there are legitimate differences in taste within a reasonable spectrum; for example, would it be presumably normal to say trash dumps were a lovely place, or that mountains are hideous? Not really. You wouldn’t live in a trash dump, right?  In reality we don’t believe that beauty does entirely lies in the eyes of the beholder -we have background aesthetic principles, and we are aware that our tastes might clash with those of another.

I’m done analysing LOL.  Honestly, it’s just basic perception. For me, beauty is natural.  Seeing how much ground the aesthetic medicine has gained, it’s quite rare to find a woman (especially a woman!) that doesn’t look like a fucking Barbie doll. Every time I look on social media or walking on the street,I get the feeling that they all look alike – trying to copy some famous Kardashian, women start to lose individuality. That one thing that makes them special. They are enhancing or changing that one flaw that actually made them unique, that made them stand out in a crowd.
Men are just testing these grounds, but probably will get into “the small adjustments” very soon. And I believe the same type of men look for the same type of woman – Barbie and Ken, right? But genetics are going to hit pretty hard on the babies :). Can’t Photoshop or filter that. Not hating nor trolling around, I just find vainly all this struggle to look perfect. We all die in the end- why wasting time and energy on such things ? The physical expectations for beauty have become increasingly distorted. Everyone wants to feel they are beautiful in some way, and when the standards become so difficult to keep up with, so many people feel bad about themselves.

Saddest part is, besides the exterior, people are trying to copy or compensate the interior, but most end up being a shit nicely wrapped. I swear, beauty is simple if you enjoy life.  I see beauty in my mom’s laugh, in a child’s smile, in a kiss between two people, in the way a wave shatters to the shore, how a drop of water smashes on the pavement during a hot summer rain and I can go on and on.

I’m gonna leave here some of my favorite quotes and I want to ask : What is beauty to you ?

“I don’t mind being burdened with being glamorous and sexual. Beauty and femininity are ageless and can’t be contrived, and glamour, although the manufacturers won’t like this, cannot be manufactured. Not real glamour; it’s based on femininity.”

– Marilyn Monroe

“Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.” – Khalil Gibran

“Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete? Proving nature’s laws wrong, it learned to walk without having feet. Funny, it seems to, by keeping its dreams; it learned to breathe fresh air. Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else even cared.”

– Tupac Shakur

“Live quietly in the moment and see the beauty of all before you. The future will take care of itself.”
– Paramahansa Yogananda
